Hawzah News Agency- Two Lebanese Sunni clerics, Shaykh Hassam Rahal and Shaykh Nazar Motaveh, who are also members of Lebanon's Assembly of Muslim Scholars met with the officials of Islamic Seminary's center for international relations in Qom, on Wednesday, December 7.
During the meeting, Shaykh Hassam Rahal elaborated on the nature and activities of Lebanese religious communities saying, "In our Assembly of Muslim scholars in Lebanon, we pursue the unity of the Islamic Ummah and we are working for it,"
"Although we may face some criticism and accusations in the course of our efforts towards reaching Islamic unity, but we firmly believe in pursuing this true path of Islamic solidarity and supporting the Islamic Resistance in their fight against the Zionist regime; we believe that the only way towards victory is through practicing Jihad and resistance,"
The Sunni cleric further added, "We also believe that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a true supporter of the Islamic Ummah; Iran is the land of Islamic sciences, culture and civilization; it promotes the moderate Islam and seeks the unity of Islamic Ummah, that's why we are here to express our solidarity with Iranian scholars,"
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Lebanese cleric explained his activities in approximating Islamic sects and said, "During our religious meetings in Lebanon, we insist that Sunni and Shia clerics sit side by side each other and engage in discussions; such cooperation and negotiations will neutralize most of the religious strife and conflicts,"
